She was a little girl living in a remote mountain village. She had no dresses, no textbooks, and no fairy tales. Her father chopped firewood deep in the mountains and grew sweet potatoes and buckwheat on the steep slopes. Her mother burnt wood in the stove house, and the blue smoke rose from the thatched roof, curling and drifting up into the high, high sky, making it exceptionally beautiful. She went barefoot, carrying a woven basket, and ventured into the forest. She was going to pick mushrooms. It was a May morning, just after a drizzle, with a rainbow still hanging in the sky. Playful little forest spirits were cavorting among the trees, amusing the leaves, grass, and flowers, making them sway and dance. Among the pine needles, the little girl spotted a golden mushroom. Her heart pounded hard. The mushroom was so beautiful that it scared her. She plucked the golden mushroom and cradled it in her hand. In the forest, the spirits and birds sang in harmony:
"Daughter of the Sun, Daughter of the Moon, Beautiful little princess, Hurry back!"

She had transformed into a princess, dressed in a splendid white gown with shimmering crystal shoes on her feet and a delicate diamond crown on her head. The golden mushroom had turned into a sparkling star and ascended into the sky. A beautiful queen in a golden gown approached, took the little girl's hand, and led her into a magnificent palace
